Part 1. What is so special about this place?

A river runs through it.

It is true. It’s the best

In all of this land

it wears the great crest.

It starts up in Wisco.

It begins very slow.

This little trickle

knows where to flow.

This is a place where

the natives would go

trade to and from

the coast you will blow

seaway, the Great Lakes

towards my Chicago.

There you must portage.

Find the canal.

The way you go here

will lead to La Salle.

Next, you will follow

those beautiful lines.

Past the starved rock,

the river it winds.

Peoria is next

then on to St. Louis.

If you want a straight shot,

dumb shit, your boat blew it.

Right after DePue,

on a fork your craft sits

Walk west on I80 or

Hennepin if she fits.
