Five Tips for New Drone Buyers in 2021?

If you are just getting into drones, then these tips might help you decide what to buy this year.

I hope this information saves new drone buyers some frustration and money if they are thinking about buying a drone this year.

  1. Learn about the rules and regulations. I have met a few people who purchased an expensive drone and later found out that it won’t take off in their backyard due to airspace restrictions. New laws regarding the sale and use of drones were recently updated and a timeline was set for changes to UAV rules and regulations. Many UAV manufacturers will need to update their new products in the next 18 months. This also means that some drones that are legal for sale today might not be legal to fly in most US airspace in a few years. I will try to keep my followers updated about this as UAV manufacturers release information about remote ID compliance.
  2. Decide if your drone is for business or pleasure. Drones can do remarkable things but they are not all created equally. If you are looking for something that might earn you money, pay special attention to the last tip on this list. If you are looking for something fun, you have a decision between a racing or freestyle FPV drone or a stable camera drone.
  3. Decide if you want to race your drone or make awesome videos. You can do both but racing drones are FPV quads that can flip and spin. On the other side, consumer camera drones provide a stable platform for aerial photographs and cinematic videos. The hybrid between the two is sometimes called a cinewhoop and can produce some unique camera shots. Cinewhoops are frequently built by pilots but some good pre-assembled quads can be found online. Usually, a GoPro is added to make videos that leave most viewers amazed. These quads look extremely fun to fly but take many hours of practice to fly without crashing. All of these drones come at different price points based on quality and features. Do your research to see where you want to start.
  4. Ask a lot of questions. There are many different options for new drone buyers. It can be a daunting task to find the right drone for you if you don’t know the basic info. The top consumer drone brands on the market have models that can be bought…
