Decoding Lord Huron: “Ends of the Earth”

This song is actually the beginning of one of my favorite albums of the millennium. This is part of a series of stories I am writing about the band Lord Huron. I am starting with the Lonesome Dreams album but we will do some dancing around. The first song on Lonesome Dreams is called, “Ends of the Earth.” I like to think of this song as a prologue to the album. It is a catchy western adventure tune set in the desert. At the very beginning of this video, you might notice a little cereal box. I think the boys were suggesting that this video is a special prize found in the box. It says Vernon’s on the side and it looks like some corn flakes called “Chubbies”. The box says they are, “Tasty and Fun.” I believe this is an early reference to a character you will hear more about later. His name is Buck Vernon. Who is he? How would I know? I am not a spoiler.
